Stansted Airport Planning Application

As you may know, the 2018 Stansted Airport Planning Application for expansion to 43 million passengers per annum has not yet been given final approval.

There are difficulties with the proposed Section 106 Agreement and there have been a number of new material considerations and changes in circumstances in the seven months that have passed since the Planning Application was given provisional approval in November last year. As a consequence, SSE is pressing Uttlesford District Council to refer the Planning Application back to the (new) Planning Committee for further consideration.

The Uttlesford website states that the Council welcomes residents’ petitions and so SSE has drafted a petition as per the subject title of this email. In order to be properly constituted, the petition must be signed by at least 50 individuals who are electors in Uttlesford District or by five Chairmen of Uttlesford Parish/Town Councils.

We are aiming to do much better than that.We had over 400 signatures in the first 36 hours after launching the petition on Tuesday. UDC does not currently have its own e-petition facility and so we have followed their recommendation to use change.org. To register your support please click on the link: http://chng.it/QGYQV46xvr Alternatively, there is a link to the petition on the home page of the SSE website at www.stopstanstedexpansion.com

The 2008 Stansted Airport Planning Application was opposed by 47 Parish Councils and so I am hoping that you will feel able to support this petition and encourage colleagues to do likewise. You may also wish to consider putting a link to the petition on your Parish/Town Council website.
